Reverse-board print of GE-OLOGY's original iconic 'Body Rock' artwork

Reverse-board print of GE-OLOGY's original iconic 'Body Rock' artwork

GE-OLOGY's personal reverse-board print created for his iconic cover art illustration for the “Body Rock” release with Mos DefQ-Tip and Tash (an early Black Star / Lyricist Lounge / Rawkus Records era artifact from 1998). This rare print mock-up is archived from a highly celebrated period of underground Hip Hop culture from the late-1990s, and is deeply rooted in GE-OLOGY's visual art side of his multidisciplinary background. Another example of his personal attempt to preserve and document various phases of a project as it evolves into its formal release.

This classic cover art would later be listed in "Ego Trip's Book Of Rap Lists" (By Sacha Jenkins, Elliott Wilson, Chairman Mao, Gabriel Alvarez & Brent Rollins) on the list of 25 Great EP, 12" & CD Single Covers, first published in 1999. GE-OLOGY talks openly about the time period of him illustrating the cover and his brief cameo in the song's music video (directed by fellow visual artist and friend David Ellis). An important part of cultural hip-hop history, this is truly the kind of piece that appeals to people who care about how records look as much as how they sound.

Collectibility

  • Provenance: GE-OLOGY's personal copy, with cover artwork credited directly to him
  • Rarity: High - vinyl mock-ups are rarely kept, especially by the original artist
  • Significance: A visual record from a defining underground period
